College Go! Week was an exciting time at Baker Elementary. Students had a chance to explore maps of Indiana that listed all public and private colleges and universities. Students were encouraged to choose one school that they would like to research. Students were also encouraged to ask Baker staff members about the colleges and training programs they attended.
Take time to begin planning career goals with your child. Find out what he/she is interested in learning more about, and help your child do some research. I have come across some excellent resources that could be helpful as you help your child plan for college, prepare for the future and find creative ways to pay for your child’s education.
The Indiana Department of Education has a great website resource that can be located at www.in.gov/learnmoreindiana/ click on the “K-12 Students” tab. This page has a lot of good information. At the top right of this page, click on the “resource” tab and then the “print resources” section. This will provide some more resource material that can downloaded and printed for use at home.
The Virginia Career View is an amazing resource as well. It can be accessed at www.vacareerview.org/k5/ . Many of these items can be downloaded and printed as well.
Take a few minutes to check out these career resources and help your child create some goals for the future. If there is anything I can to help, let me know. I can be reached at extension 1301.
